Dear Students,
As
the Graduate School of Social Sciences at Balıkesir University, we are aware of
the decisive role of the social sciences in a rapidly changing and transforming
world. Our Institute continues its activities with the aim of creating an
academic ecosystem that not only transfers knowledge but also reproduces it,
questions it, and guides social transformation. We regard graduate education as
a strategic investment in the future of society, beyond individual academic
development.
Today,
the social sciences form the basis of decision-making processes in many fields,
from economic development to governance, from cultural change to
sustainability. In this context, our Institute has identified as its primary
goal the training of researchers who adopt an interdisciplinary approach,
encourage critical thinking, and are capable of competing on a global scale.
Our aim is to prepare our students for the future not merely as individuals
holding academic titles, but as scientists who can think analytically, possess
a strong sense of ethical responsibility, and are solution-oriented.
The
master’s and doctoral programs carried out within the Graduate School of Social
Sciences at Balıkesir University place scientific methodology, academic writing
competence, and the production of original research at their core. Quality,
continuity, and transparency are our fundamental principles in educational
processes. Our academically competent faculty members guide our students at
every stage of the advisory process, contributing to the strengthening of the
research culture.
Our
student-centered approach is one of the essential components of our
institutional stance. We adopt a management approach that closely monitors the
academic development of our students and takes their needs and expectations
into account. With the awareness that graduate education is not limited to
coursework and thesis processes alone, we make our students part of active
academic production through scientific seminars, workshops, congresses, and
project-based studies. In this way, we aim to help our students gain academic
self-confidence and develop a culture of scientific discussion.
National
and international academic visibility is among the strategic priorities of our
Institute. We encourage the global dissemination of knowledge produced through
international publications, joint research projects, and academic
collaborations. We attach importance to the inclusion of our students and
academics in international scientific networks, their participation in academic
mobility programs, and their acquisition of multicultural academic experiences.
This approach directly contributes to our university’s vision of
internationalization.
Our
Institute places scientific ethics and academic integrity at the center of all
its activities. Ensuring that every academic study produced is ethical,
original, and of high quality is our fundamental expectation. By continuously
reviewing our quality assurance processes, we act with the goal of excellence
in graduate education. We view institutional development not as a static but as
a dynamic process, and we aim to build a structure that adapts to changing
academic and social needs.
Balıkesir
University Graduate School of Social Sciences is an institution that takes into
account the social, cultural, and economic dynamics of its region; aims to
contribute to universal science while producing solutions to local problems
from a scientific perspective. Supporting and disseminating research that
prioritizes social benefit is among the core missions of our Institute. We
believe that knowledge should not only be produced but also used in ways that
add value to society.
In
line with this vision, as the Graduate School of Social Sciences at Balıkesir
University, we continue our efforts with determination to become a reference
institution in graduate education, supported by our strong academic staff,
qualified students, and institutional commitment. I would like to thank all our
students who choose us in their academic journey, our academic and
administrative staff who contribute to our work, and all our stakeholders who
support the development of our Institute.
